Long known for its customer service and stylish merchandise, retailer Nordstrom is focused on providing top-notch service in an area most shoppers never think about: its supply chain.

Like its clients, the Seattle-based chain knows that one size doesn’t fit all, and that’s as true of logistics as it is of shoes and suits. The company says it now puts its customers at the center of a supply chain strategy that emphasizes flexibility, space and operational simplicity.

“Nordstrom shows that the supply chain is a crucial aspect of customer experience and a piece that shouldn’t be overlooked by companies that want to provide consistent experiences to their customers from all sides,” Blake Morgan writes in Forbes. Morgan is an author and speaker who describes herself as a “customer experience futurist.”
