Brock McVey

Brock McVey’s focus on customer satisfaction throughout its six showrooms in Kentucky and the expertise of its staff have been the key factors in its success over the past eight decades.

Founded by Dan Brock and Frank McVey in 1935, the Lexington, Ky.-based company served solely as a plumbing supply house at the time. To meet growing customer demands, the business was relocated to a larger facility just three years after its inception. Success continued and allowed Brock McVey to expand in the early 1950s by opening branches across the state.

After opening its branches in Frankfort and Maysville in 1952, Brock McVey launched its refrigeration supply sector the following year. AY McDonald Manufacturing, headquartered in Dubuque, Iowa, acquired the company in 1964. Led by John McDonald III, who still serves as the chairman of the board today, the company set its sights on continued expansion, which brought the addition of the fixture gallery to the Lexington showroom.

Brock McVey grew aggressively from 1970 through the early 1980s with the acquisition of Wilson Machinery and by opening additional branches. Brock McVey’s 168,000-square-foot Lexington Distribution Center was built in 1985 and today also serves as the home for the entire location, including its headquarters and showroom.

Brock McVey has served multiple generations of electrical, plumbing and HVAC/R contractors throughout its home state, and its showrooms offer the opportunity to see the newest plumbing, lighting and appliance selections. “Brock McVey offers innovative, quality products, and technical knowledge and expertise that are unsurpassed,” the company says.

Exceeding Expectations

Customer satisfaction is the goal at Brock McVey and the company strives to make every buying experience exceed its customers’ expectations. Whether its customers are remodeling their kitchens or bathrooms, building new homes or furnishing commercial establishments, the company has a wide selection of products for them in every showroom.

Its high-quality residential and commercial plumbing and lighting fixtures include Kohler, Delta, Danze, Elkay, Kichler, Murray Feiss, Mone Carlo and Progress. “Our showrooms at all six locations display a complete line of quality plumbing and lighting fixtures, as well as kitchen and bathroom cabinetry,” the company says.

The company’s lighting fixtures include ceiling lights, lamps, wall lights and outdoor lighting. It also offers a variety of fans and home accents, including mirrors, vases, shelves, trays, coat racks, fireplaces and mantles, furniture and clocks.

Brock McVey carries American residential water heaters and Lochinvar commercial water heaters and boilers. It offers Copeland refrigeration equipment, Siemens electrical supplies and Hydromatic pumps for sewage, sump, effluent and other applications. The company is also a wholesale distributor of Luxaire and Tempstar heating and air conditioning equipment and accessories, including controls, flexible ducts, registers and grilles and sheet metal fittings.

The fixture galleries at each Brock McVey location offer customers the opportunity to view the diverse choices available in plumbing and lighting products. “From the simple to the unique to the elaborate – we offer an extensive selection of products from quality manufacturers,” the company notes.

Employee Expertise

Its showroom consultants provide unsurpassed expertise with their ability to coordinate the efforts between a homeowner and the contractor to create the kitchen or bath of their dreams. “Through their understanding of the building process, our consultants will work with clients or designers to help keep a project on budget and on track,” the company says. “The luxurious showroom will bring meaning to the words ‘not just living…gracious living.’”

Because its employees’ technical knowledge and expertise are a differentiator for the company, Brock McVey employs a broad range of staff to fully meet the needs of its customers. Its most-tenured employee has more than 60 years of experience and many other staff members exceed 35 years of experience, the company notes.

The company ensures its staff is up-to-date on all its new and innovative products by providing training in partnership with its suppliers. Brock McVey and Honeywell teamed up in November to provide hands-on training on the latest Wi-Fi and RedLINK thermostats. In September, Brock Mcvey partnered with Scotsman to train attendees on Scotsman Ice Machines.

Moving forward, Brock McVey plans to stay committed to providing exceptional customer service and experienced, knowledgeable staff in its showrooms who can meet the needs of every customer. “Brock McVey remains devoted to the customer service and expertise that fueled success in the past and continues to look for innovative opportunities to serve customers into the future,” the company says.
